Loanan is a detached, single-storey cottage situated amidst dramatic scenery in the heart of picturesque Sutherland. Set in its own garden grounds that lead directly down to a tumbling Scottish burn, it offers peace and seclusion in a superb setting. The main living room is very attractively presented, with patio doors opening onto the garden and offering uninterrupted views across the hills towards Loch Assynt. There are two pretty cottage bedrooms, with colour coordinated soft furnishings throughout. The modern kitchen/dining room is very well equipped, with plenty of dining space for up to four people. Loanan is situated in the little hamlet of Inchnadamph, surrounded by some of the most dramatic and amazing landscapes to be found anywhere in the British Isles, with hills, lochs, rivers and mountains as far as the eye can see. It is just off the North Coast 500 Route which encompasses some of most incredible scenery and remote unspoilt areas in Scotland. The immediate area is a haven for wildlife. Deer roam close to hand and eagles, otters, pine martin and buzzards are all seen in the region. The local area is of significant archaeological and geological interest; a trip to the nearby bone caves is a must. There is a hotel just a few yards away, which provides meals and drinks to non-residents throughout the summer season. For more comprehensive facilities, the charming village of Lochinver is just 13 miles away. This pretty fishing village with its natural harbour has a good selection of restaurants, two pubs, small shops and cafés. The Inver Lodge Hotel perched on the hillside above the village has a renowned restaurant, Chef Roux, run by the legendary Albert Roux; ideal for a spot of lunch whilst admiring the stunning views across the bay. Sailing, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, hill-walking, fishing and climbing are all enjoyed locally. Situated at the head of Loch Assynt, there are superb walks and climbs direct from the house and the dramatic peaks of Suilven, Stac Pollaidh, Canisp, Quinag and Ben More Assynt dominate the skyline of this wild and unspoilt Highland region.
