The Emerald Woods is an almost 200-year old Greek Revival home in the country on 8 private acres with 9 foot ceilings, easy access to Asheville and the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountain communities, but is beautiful enough to never leave and just stay on site and cook a gourmet dinner in the newly renovated kitchen, or watch movies on smart tvs loaded with Netflix, HBOMax, CBSAllAccess, ESPN and Hulu, or sit out by the firepit and see if the deer and turkeys come on site.
The house is a historic house and was built between 1820 and 1837 and still has its original windows and heart pine floors which have been newly refinished throughout the house and a propane fireplace and baseboard heaters. There is also a large turn of the century decorative wood burning stove in the kitchen. The land originally was composed of 1500 acres that were gradually sold by previous owners over the last 200 years. The brick used to build the house was fired on site. Toward the end of the Civil War, General Stoneman of the Union Army and his soldiers fired cannonballs into one of the walls in an effort to take the house down but the house still stands firm.
The new owner purchased the house in the summer of 2020 and spent five months updating the kitchen and bathroom, repainting every room and completed several other projects while working to maintain the character of the house.
The pale pink bedroom has a queen sized bed, a coffee station with a Keurig coffee pot and also has a 40 inch Samsung smart tv over the decorative fireplace, an essential oil diffuser and a white noise machine with the sounds of rain, ocean and thunderstorms to help guests drift off to sleep easily, and plenty of closet space. The beds have 12 inch memory foam mattresses and are approximately 28 inches high.
The pale blue bedroom has a queen sized bed, a coffee station with a Keurig so guests don't have to make their way to the kitchen in the am to have coffee, a 43 inch Samsung smart tv, a white noise machine with the sounds of rain, ocean and thunderstorms to help guests drift off to sleep easily and plenty of closet space. The beds have 12 inch memory foam mattresses and are approximately 28 inches high. There is a half bath attached to the blue room.
If needed, an extra full size fold out bed can be placed in the living room at no additional cost.
The kitchen has 9 foot tall ceilings, all new appliances including a dual zone wine refrigerator, a Nespresso coffee machine with aerator, a Keurig coffee pot and a French press and comes with a starter set of coffee pod, etc. There is a French country kitchen table that can accommodate up to 5 people (if you ask for the table extender to be placed) as well as a blender, toaster, popcorn maker, microwave, refrigerator with filtered water and ice and sets of dishes and tablecloths and cutlery, etc.
The living room has a 50 inch Samsung smart tv, two long deep blue velvet couches, a decorative brick fireplace and a cabinet filled with games.
There is brand new grill by the firepit with a tank of propane. Please make sure to turn the propane off when you are finished with the grill. The house is surrounded by its own little forest on all sides and you can barely see other properties from the house unless you peer hard between the trees! There is an old little barn on the property and a 20 foot diameter fire pit. If you think you would like to use the firepit while at the house, please text me via the app and I will have the property manager place a couple bundles of firewood out for you. Please remember that the house is in the woods so you may see a bug or two but I do have regular pest control contract in place.
Please note that the wifi in the area is pretty exceptional but you are still in a rural area with the potential for outages which could impact the internet, tv streaming though this rarely happens. You should be prepared to adjust your cell phone to wifi calling because cell service can be very intermittent but with wifi calling enabled, service is excellent.
There is a security camera at the front door and at the back door pointed away from the hot tub. There is also a security gate/chain on the property at the entrance but this will be open when guests arrive. There are no security cameras within the house.
I may have to have a helper come by to water the flowers, cut the grass, do preventative pest control, or take care of some other aspect of the house but none of these helpers will need to enter the house. There are many flowers and flowering bushes, etc. on the grounds that need regular care.
